I don’t know who establishes themes, but we (in the UK) celebrated National Chocolate Week between 15 and 21 October. A trip to The Game Bird, one of Palate’s favourite London haunts, was a great way to participate in the festivities. The special dessert on offer was a Valrhona Chocolate Bounty – essentially a take on the famed Bounty bar. Coconut mousse, chocolate sponge and coconut sorbet made for a pleasing, quirky and decadent pudding. Gino, their sommelier, came to my aid with a dessert wine in the form of an ice-cold glass of Muscat. Good times!
